Slow movements, hard materials.
About the Newsletter
Continental Drift is a weekly newsletter for analysis of the forces moving beneath industry, technology, political economy, and life between China and the wider world. Supply chains, critical minerals, and industrial policy are recurring themes, but the subject is broader: the slow rearrangement of power, production, culture, and everyday life.
Essays are free. If you want them in your inbox, subscribe here. If you prefer a reader, there’s an RSS feed.
About the Author
I’m Corey Langner, and the site name Continental Drift is literal. I’ve spent the last few years drifting across continents. I built ML systems for supply chain issues at Textron in the US, then data infrastructure for AI models at a Danish startup in Shenzhen. Seeing the plates move from both sides is what made me want to write about them.
I’m based in China, and you can usually find me in Shanghai or Shenzhen.
